What you are about to experience is forty-five minutes of Stanley Kubrick's renowned film work, presented to you like never before. Selecting some of the iconic director's most stunning cinematic creations, visual maestro Clay Dempsey has produced a spectacle that, much like one of Kubrick's most controversial scenes, will leave you unable to blink an eye. What separates this project from the rest, however, is that the hypnotic imagery precisely coincides with an aural backdrop provided by DJ collective, Orchard Lounge. The unmastered audio was recorded live on 8/18/07 at Camp Bisco VI, during the late night set break of the hugely popular band, The Disco Biscuits. Melding mid-tempo electronic gems and esoteric tech-house, the music was programmed to complement what you, the viewer, are witnessing on screen. Turn your lights down low, the stereo up high, and enjoy this brief glimpse into the future.
Clay Dempsey is a visual artist from Ashford, Alabama currently residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A long time film enthusiast with one of the largest collections of rare and foreign film in North America, Clay is co-founder of the film review site cinepheila.com, and an employee of TLA Entertainment, where he screens for both the Danger After Dark horror label as well as the Philadelphia Film Festival. A long time fan of electronica, his visual style marries the approach of the music producer with the fundamentals of imagery. Clay uses bits and pieces of his most cherished cinematography to create an entirely new kind of experience for admirers of futuristic electronic music. By incorporating an array of different sampling, strobing, shaping, and glitching techniques, his sets could serve as a silent mix tape on their own, but have an even great impact when perfectly synced up to an aural backdrop. His samples are often quite familiar to audiences, other times he will pull out a rarity only recognizable by serious film aficionados. Call him a joker, or call him a nerd, Mr. Dempsey is incredibly passionate about what he does. His methods in film editing are highly influenced by motion pictures like "Run Lola Run" and "Requiem For A Dream", bodies of work that use a technique commonly known as "ADHD Editing". With sold out shows for thousands under his belt, and a Stanley Kubrick inspired DVD release with Orchard Lounge, the future is wide open for this young man and his unique vision.
